Hello, it is always very diffcult to make a decision to make a choice between mac and pc. Here is some information for you which will help you to make a decision:

I have been using windows since 1988. I also used to think, macs are too complicated but trust me, I used a mac two years ago, and I regret why I was not aware of such beautiful computers. These computers have very user friendly interface. Apple gives you great resources to learn about the macs:
* All macs have built-in help
* Apple web site gives you lessons at no charge
* Apple web site gives you great tutorial, for example, tutorial for imovie:
http://www.apple.com/support/imovie/tuto...
* If you have an apple store in your area, they offer you training classes
* Apple manual has a wealth of information
* Mac Learning Center, follow this link and try it:

Apple computers come with "iLife" pre-installed:

I understand, apple computers sound a bit expensive, but buying mac is worth, for example, if you buy macbook, it would cost you about $1100, but it will give you lots:

Let's say, you buy a pc, it may cost you about $1000 with some features, but pc would not come with photos editing program, movie editing program, music editing program and lots more, and your pc may end costing you up to $2000 as these media software are very expensive and you have to buy each seperately.

You can defintely run limewire program also on your mac.

Most of the printers manufacturers are making printers which works both with mac and windows.

Apple also offers discount for students and you can save additional up to $100. Apple is also offering ipod nano with the purchase of a mac right at the moment.

You can also run windows on your mac by installing "Parallel":
you may already know, apple computers give you flexiblity to run both apple and windows under the same umbrella, you need to install parallels, you can get more information:

This may also help you and give you a clear picture of the difference between Apple and Microsoft:

"Which way is better to go: a Microsoft Windows-based laptop or an Apple laptop that can also run Windows?" -

This is a question many users face when looking for a new computer. Now that Macs include Intel processors - the same ones found in the majority of Microsoft Windows-based PCs - it's even harder to choose between the two types of systems.

The right tools for the right job.
The first thing you should decide is how you're going to use your computer. While both Windows PCs and Macintosh computers can do most tasks the other can - such as email, Web browsing, and word processing - each has its own areas of specialty.

Although Macs can now run Windows natively (from a separate partition on your hard drive using Apple's free Boot Camp software), if you're planning on running a lot of Windows-only software, you might be better off with a PC. First, there's the added cost of buying additional software for a Mac, such as the Windows operating system itself. And if you want to avoid rebooting to access Windows, you can run Windows within the Mac operating system (Mac OS X) with the help of third-party software, but you'll get somewhat slower performance than when running Windows natively on your Mac or on a PC.

For gaming enthusiasts Windows PCs have a clear edge. They have the best selection of gaming titles, as well as the best selection of graphics cards for the latest cutting-edge games.

If you're a multimedia aficionado, who likes to work with music, photos and video, Macs are the preferred choice of hobbyists and many professionals. The iLife suite of multimedia applications is included with every Mac, so you can get started right away. Macs also have the benefit of being less likely to be infected with viruses and other malware.

Other factors to consider.
Which platform are you used to, and which do your family and friends use? It's easier to use a familiar operating system, and if you run into trouble, being able to ask your family or friends for help is a big plus.

Cost may also affect your decision. While Macs of similar specifications are comparably priced to their PC counterparts, the entry-level prices for PCs are lower.

Since laptops are engineered to such tight tolerances and often face demanding conditions, you may also wish to purchase the Product Service Plan, allowing you to spend less time worrying about your computer and more time enjoying it.

Note: if you dont want mac, then I would suggest you go with Sony Vaio, fe series are not very expensive, but you still need at least $1000 to spend,Sony also gives you lots of media programs pre-installed.

Good luck!

If price isn't an issue, then Panasonic Toughbooks. Otherwise, I would look at Asus, Lenova or Sony Laptops. The other brands typically found in big retailers are cheap ones that retailers can move fast because of price, but are built really cheap/crappy too. These include: Compaq, HP, Dell, Gateway, Acer and a few others of which I would recommend NONE of them. Also I would NOT recommend buying a laptop based on looks. Too many girls I know bought a laptop because "it looked cute" Looks have nothing to do with durability, reliablity and quality of internal components!
Macbooks fall under the class of "cute". Most girls and teens want these because they are trendy and cute. However, Mac's are not practical in a business\office environment unless your business involves music editing or image editing.
