He was a great President in the past. But, judging by the man that he was, his politics, his personality, etc. would he still win by today's standards?

And, let's apply him to 2008.

Why wouldn't he be a Republican? Because he's not religious? That's not true.

Nope. There is no way that Honest Abe would be able to win in this day in age. Just look at the dirty tricks they do to Ron Paul for being honest. Interesting to note - Lincoln was assassinated because he was taking control away from the powerful international bankers (the Rothschilds). He needed money to finance the Civil War and was offered loans at high interest rates by bankers controlled by the Rothschilds. Rather than accept the loans, Lincoln found other ways to fund the war. The Rothschilds saw this as a huge threat and ordered the hit on him. Evidence suggests that Lincoln was not corrupted by the ruling elite. He was not a Mason as many of our past Presidents have been. However, John Wilkes Booth (Lincoln’s assassin) was a 33rd degree Mason.

First, i'm unsure I comprehend your question. although, you have made some statements that are factually erroneous. i'm unsure approximately George Washington's election, because of fact lower back then the congress, not the persons by way of a favored election voted for President. Lincoln's election became into controversial the main polarizing presidential election in history. Southern states threatened to be triumphant if Lincoln became into elected, and that they've been authentic to their hazard. subsequently, we had the Civil conflict. John F. Kennedy, as Lincoln, would be a favored President in posterity, yet he won a slender election against rich Nixon - it became into between the closest in history. What do you advise that the 1st administration became into haunted? Lincoln did win the South - he won the conflict. He became into assassinated previous to reconstruction. This usa is distinctive, we at the instant are not homogeneous Germans marching to the comparable drum. Dissent keeps our usa healthy. rather frankly, I choose there became into greater.

Well, in 2008 standards the Republican party was actually much more similarly minded to modern day Democrats, the switch happened after the Civil War. So he'd be labeled a loony lib by the right.

Edit: Go read up on party history. Religion and politics is actually a pretty modern concept. It has to do with changing values.

Both Parties claim the same thing. The Republican Party was a through back to Jefferson's Democratic-Republican Party.

Both have changed drastically over time, as the times have changed. Neither Jefferson or Lincoln had to deal with Abortion, Immigration, (they were working on expansion), stem cell research, and moral issues such as these.

Both would cringe as to the morality of this nation. But then most of us would cringe if we had to live in their times. We would believe we were in prison.

But both were very conservative in Nature, and with that said both would chose the most conservative of parties.

From the history of both parties:

Republicans have a long and rich history with basic principles: Individuals, not government, can make the best decisions; all people are entitled to equal rights; and decisions are best made close to home.

Thomas Jefferson founded the Democratic Party in 1792 as a congressional caucus to fight for the Bill of Rights and against the elitist Federalist Party. In 1798, the "party of the common man" was officially named the Democratic-Republican Party

I don't think there is a Republican alive or dead and that includes Regan that could win at least not for the next 5 years.

Lincoln wouldn't stand a chance because the camera wouldn't like him. I'm sure part of Kerry's problem was that he had a long, gloomy horse-face. Americans like their presidents to be photogenic and the kind of guy they'd like to go have a beer with. Old Abe was much too gloomy to go out for a beer and have a good time. We are a shallow people.

The Abe from yesterday would not be the abe he would be today. He would be a greatly changed person and who knows if he would even be in the position to be able to run for president today. Of course if abe lived to be more than 150 years, he would not be able to be president.

Oh and just so you know this was the same man who said "I pray that a ***** will never be equal to a white man".

Look it up.

Yea right. Sadly, the neo-cons and bought out candidates would walk all over him.

There is no more honesty in washington. THat is why Ron Paul is having such a hard time.

The Republican party was created as a liberal alternative to the then-ultra conservative Democratic party. Lincoln would run as a liberal if he ran today.
