"We have an obligation to solve problems that have been piling up for decades," Bush said in his weekly radio address. "The status quo is unacceptable."

The measure would tighten borders and workplace enforcement, create a new guest worker program and provide pathways to legal status for most of the estimated 12 million illegal immigrants in the country.

How can you justify a war on terroism if you are willingly letting illegal imigrants into our country? What do we know about these people? How can we track them if something is done? The answer to the problem is not making them legal residents but to enforce the law. If you can spend trillions of dollars in War you can afford stricter security on the bordes and throughout the United States. Let's not compromise what we are fighting for just because Top Dollar business men are making bigger profits off of $5 an hour illegal immigrants with no benefits.

There are too many things that is going on right now that contradict each other. And this is a major one! Why would we allow illegals to become legal knowing that a lot of terrorists are illegal? Also knowing that illegals DO take jobs away from legals.

We can't support the entire world. We can barely support ourselves with the path were headed down.

this is something i also don't get. we are supposedly fighting this war on terror, but then do nothing to secure our borders. We don't know who is coming in this country illegally, and now we want to give amnesty to people who might be terrorists.. you can't have things both ways.. if the terrorists are such a big threat, secure this contry. If not, then stop all of the bs regulations on the planes.

Absolutely. Secure the borders. We know for a fact that terrorists Al Qaida are in Mexico and other places in Central and South America. For the leftist who dont believe that they are in Mexico, the infor came from a democrat congressman from Texas not some "evil republican liar". Wake up.

Wow, 12 million. I'd feel sorry for any teenage Americans living here in California! They wouldn't be able to find a job for the lives of them!
