I am thirteen years old and I want to have clothes that I like and will wear so I decided to make my own clothing. Yes, my family does have a sewing machine and an iron. We have needles, thread, bobbens, pins, and pretty much everything needed except the fabric. So, I have two questions. How can I start making my own clothes and where can I find cheap, good quality fabric for making clothing?

I am designer and I use to make clothes and sell them a few years ago, well... I finished school and decided to continue my Engineering career but Clothing is my Passion!
An easy way to start making your clothes is through patterns, go to your local Walmart and check their big patterns magazines and pick the models you like, take your measurements and match your size with the pattern, they have tons and tons of easy to follow patterns.
They also carry several fabrics and you may be able to find some cute ones there, otherwise check in your yellow pages for fabric stores, always check the sale fabric first for a good price. Actually the pattern instructions will give you the amount of fabric you need.
Then , cut the pattern, lay it over the fabric , pin it up and cut... then, sew the parts together!
It takes a bit of practice and a lot of patience but it is worth trying!!! Star with skirts and simple dresses and after you feel confident go to the sleeveless tops.... I find sleeves the hardest part to sew together.
If you like all the sewing and designing you can go to a designer's school and learn how to do your own patterns and designs.
Good luck!!

Fabric is cheaper when you buy it at a warehouse or something in bulk. But you definitely don't need all that fabric. I would probably just go to your local fabric store. And their are like patterns that you buy to follow. You might be able to find usefull patterns on the net.

try taking sewing classes or ask your grandma or someone you know who sews, also watch all those shows of "What Not To Wear" and "Project Runway" and "I have Nothing To Wear", look at many fashion magazines or other magazines, you can always go to stores or places that can inspire your clothing and how you want to make it or design it, there are many cheap fabric stores, and i know a few but they are local so they may not be located were you live but maybe you could try Joann's fabric store and you can always look for their coupons and things like that ,http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2699
try walmart they have fabrics there too, also try searching on google: type in: fabric stores in (name of place where you live)
good luck

Simplicity patterns will be good to start with. Make some easy things first then work your way up. Use advise, books, and tv sewing shows. Sewing is fun and frustrating. It's also very satisfying. Don't get discouraged if things are not perfect to start with.

Pay a visit to WalMart. Most of them have a fabric/crafts section. You can find a lot of nice patterns and stuff there, as well as patterns.

You would need your measurements, patterns, and the will power to do it. You could check around at local fabric stores because to get it online could lead to not getting what you thought you were getting.

First, get some books from your library on dressmaking.
I use my local Rag Market for fabric - fantastic choice but unlikely you are near Birmingham!

I love her clothes! I especially loved her golf outfit, and the part where ryan tells her off when she has the white shorts on and that one top.
