Probably a vacuum leak, but it could also be a leak in your cooling system, in which case you should also see steam escaping. If it sops immediately when you turn off the engine, though, it's a vacuum leak.

Very hard to troubleshoot something like that without knowing where the hissing noise is coming form.
Could be a million different things but the first thing I would think of would be a vacumn leak. Thats something that would make a check engine light come on.
And it would be very hard to find for a novice repairman.
Take it to your dealer and have them code the engine to see where the problem is.

could be coming from the radiator,or one of the pipes feeding/coolant around the engine. As the service light is on this is the most likely causeThe light could be a coincidence for something else and the prob could come fronm somewhere else
Does the car have a turbo ,in which case the psi will be higher than in normal engines so the rubber and unions can perish quicker.
Other than that is could be coming from the servo units.
and if the clutch is hydrolic .that's another possibility.
I think the besrt thing to do is take it to someone who knows cars and can identify the problem .
Good luck

the hissing is either a vacuum leak or car is overheating and blowing steam in the overflow bag. I would find ot why the engine light is on that would be the best place to start.

You might have a snake, but that wouldn't light the service engine light. So that leave a vacuum leak, or you are over heating and have steam escaping somewhere. If it was that hot your temperature gage would warn you, so..
Vacuum leak. Use your ears, you will find it.

Sounds like a vacuum leak. You should have it scanned with a scan tool for codes to see what is going on.
