I'd really like to do this myself, but I don't want to stare at a blank screen, or have no physical or virtual memory left, and that is the trend. Help me grow wings, Wizards and gurus!

It depends on which one is in your classpath. just because you downloaded six doesn't necessarily mean it is the one working.
In the command window type:-
echo %CLASSPATH%
you can delete your other Java directories if they are not in your classpath. You only need one in your classpath
