It is a proven fact that Capitalism is better because the competition drives everyone.

HOWEVER...I do believe that Communism can work in certain circumstances. First of all you have to have a democratic government that has checks and balances to avoid corruption and abuse of power.

And secondly, and most importantly, your country needs a HUGE cheap export, (like Oil for instance) to raise money to support all those that don't want to work (and believe me there will be plenty that don't feel like working since in communism there is no incentive to work).

And lastly, the country cannot have a phylosophy of imperialism, or hate that would cause them to eventually invade other countries or commit genocide, because in a communism where people don't have to work, there will be people with TOO MUCH TIME on their hands, that will use it to brainstorm and plan their next evil action.

This is why Switzerland is the only country in the world where Communism works. They have a democracy, plenty of oil, and they have a very passive philosophy.

Because it has always been "taboo" I don't think I have enough information about it to make a truly informed opinion. During the McCarthy era, people were ostracized, denied employment, persecuted in many, many ways. Therefore, I don't believe we can form an opinion that is not propagandized, unless we study original writings on the subject. Since I live in a capitalistic society, communism is just not that important to me. I'm having a difficult enough time learning enough about the economic system we have to keep my head above water financially.
In theory, having a system of government that would supply the basic needs of all the people sounds wonderful. The reality is there is still classism in such a system so some people's needs get served more than others. That is not much different than capitalism which says anyone can make it if they pull themselves up by their bootstraps. What is neglected mention is that many do not have any boots! Still, the potential is there to self-actualize in a capitalistic system, where independent opportunity may not exist in a communist one. That sounds better to me.

More people have died (been killed) in the last 100 yrs in the name of communism than for any other reason. Commies always say "communism is good it was just the wrong people running it, let us try" yeah right.

Communism is crap.

Democratic Socialism on the other hand is what makes every country - except countries with a billion trillion debt..ie america - on earth operate.

Please don't confuse the two.

Liberal policy does not work.

Democrats running for office know that much. However it DOES work great - for giving THEM more power.

People who vote Democrat, on the other hand, are ignorant, yet well meaning.

Unfortunately Ignorance and Malice usually lead to the same results.
