For the sake of satisfying your curiosity, I will answer your offensively posed question. Angelina Jolie is an ACTRESS. That means she may portray a person's CHARACTER. That doesn't bother me one little bit.
For your information, Black people do not make an issue out of race, the majority who disenfranchise us do! For those who find it popular to say we are "playing the race card" when we call them on discriminating behavior my response is, "If you don't want me to play it, DON'T DEAL IT!"

Mariane Pearl approved of it. It’s her life and her book. Angelina Jolie is a good actress. I don’t see the problem.
I saw both of them on Charlie Rose discussing the film and they are both extraordinarily aware, intelligent and sensible women. I was impressed.

I don't believe I would have ever known if you did not tell me, and I still dont think give a rats azz. but since you asked, The movie business is all about looks the visual stuff, and if you ever look at Mrs. pearl you could see she and jolie look simular, In this case I donot think that Vivaca Fox or Halie Barrie could pass. So its ok to have a light complected person portray a light complected person.

This all reminds me of how blacks were frowned on hundreds of years ago for having their own Shakespear plays. It was considered white art.
Same thing or no?
If Mariane Pearl did not approve, I'd think differently but she doesn't seem to mind and for the last time, Ms. Pearl is not black
she's mixed.
P.S Whites make an issue out of race too, hispanics do too
So does the media as they make their news stories targetting specifically black crime(murder and theft), hispanic crime (theft and murder, middle eastern crime (suicide bombers), white crime (pedophiles)
It's no wonder why people clutch their purses, their children and avoid everyone like the plague.

in the united states, if you have any african blood in you, you are considered african american. i believe we are the only country that categorizes in this way.
having said that, its a shame jolie is so arrogant and starring in such a role. i cant stand that hypocrite and they wont get my dime. yeah, i know, who cares, but it makes me feel better.
not knowing what stance hollywood has taken on the movie, usually nothing they do is correct, i do hope it brings to mind for everyone exactly what horrific maniacs the terrorists are. there are no words to describe the atrocity they committed against daniel pearl.

She's not playing a black woman, she's supposed to be mixed. And being mixed it does bother me a bit, I think they should have got Thandie Newton or someone like that.

I wouldn't expext any honest answers. You might if she was just your run of the mill actress, they would be asking right now why it was necessary to have a white woman do make-up to look black, when there are plenty of black actresses out there.
