I have really mixed emotions about Wal Mart. About the only thing I really like to go there for is cat litter - we have two cats - and its the cheapest I've found. Now having said that, I reallllly hate driving 40 minutes to Wal Mart just to buy freakin' cat litter, so I end up spending more and buying the stuff at Krogers. My mother and s-i-l are diehard Wal Marters and they don't understand my disdain for the place. I needed to buy a new comforter and sheets for my son over the weekend, instead of driving 40 minutes to WalMart....I drove 60 and had a nice dinner before hitting Target.....awesome deals on a really nice comforter and the cutest SpongeBob sheets! :)

I really hate it when people get on here and bash other people for how they worded their question. So I will try to say this as nice as possible.
If you hate it, the shoppers (by the way you are one), the store, and the employees, WHY DO YOU GO THERE?
There are plenty of other shopping choices around most areas. You may have to drive a little farther or pay a little more. But isn't it worth it to let go of all that anger and frustration?
Note: not all Walmarts hire horribly rude associates and leave the stores nasty and filthy. Different stores in different areas are well..............different.
The cooperation is full of greedy people who suck, but you can't always blame it on the employees. Have you ever heard the expression "you get what you pay for?" That sums it all up.

i think alwaysmoose is right. i live in a small city and the wal mart here is good. the cahsiers are nice and everythings clean and you can be in and out in a minute and they have the best pharmacy. but on the other hand the wal marts in merced and sacramento SUCK. you're right the people are rude and trashy there, it's crowded and takes forever to get what you need. and they're really pushy

The whole purpose of Wal-Mart was to have a big corporation that can buy things in bulk and cut corners to save customers money. And put all of the small companies out of business at the same time. So, they don't pay their employees much, and they find the lowest quality people that they can so they don't have to give them much. It's all about the money.

I don't shop at Walmart because of their policies. In contrast to Target and Costco, they underpay their workers. That's bad not only for Walmart employees but also for everyone in general. One example: Because many Walmart employees don't have health insurance, they go to emergency rooms for care -- which costs much much more -- and those costs are borne by . . . you. There have also been news stories about how they LOCK their cleaning staff into the stores at night so those poor people can't get out, if they get injured or if there were a fire or something. Awful.

I hate going to wal-mart. There are always so many people there and it takes forever to shop, and wen you are finally done you have to wait in line forever. I usually don't go there but sometimes it's the only place that has everything I need.

I agree with Sminthian and TaDa. Although not all of the employees are "low quality". Many are simply poor people who have little to no opportunities to improve their situations, so they work for companies such as Walmart who pay low wages because they can't find anything else. I don't feel antipathetic towards such people. I realize that I might be rather grouchy, too, if I was stuck in a dead end job that didn't even pay enough to cover my rent. Having to deal with that along with the many customers who talk to workers like they're purpose in life is to kiss their a*ses is a recipe for a bad mood. I'm not saying that mistreating others is justifiable. But I can certainly empathize with low wage workers for even more reasons than the above.
As far as disliking Walmart is concerned: I dislike Walmart for the same reasons as why I dislike all big business. Big business is one result of capitalism, which squeezes the life out of freedom. We have little to no voice and little to no control over our own economy because we hand it all over to big business who lines the pockets of government officials and politicians.

I feel the same way. Wal-Mart has very rude people and it seems like its always so crowded when you go there and you just want to get out of the store.

I actually HATE walmart....but for different reasons then you....walmart has been known to desecrate American Indian burial grounds with their store building.....moving graves and other Indian artifacts so they can build on the lands.....there is talk of one being built soon in the Area of Qualla (EasternBand Cherokees) and no one wants it there.....I will not buy from a place that disrespects anyones burial grounds.....the reasons for the rude behaviors could be how the company itself treats their workers.....not a good company to work for at least from what I have been told......I don't trust Walmart and will never set foot in one.....or any other store that is connected to them!
