Yes, which is why the United States is a Republic, and NOT a Democracy. Our president is elected by the Electoral college, not flaming idiotic "citizens", and why shouldn't we use the most intelligent people in society to elect him? We forced the Popular Vote on other countries, with the only ones who had the power and ability to use it correctly were the forces of evil, as citizens typically don't wield power anywhere, except by revolution ( Poland, others ), so they're usually too stupid or desparate to chose the correct or long-term better choice. Too bad our current Republican Gov't didn't understand that.

It means that democracy and free elecctions is something this country should force upon the world ... unless those open elections yield a result that this administration doesn't like.

The righing bell I hear is reminding me that the United States is being morphed, into an arrogant, self-serving entity, that the world hates. The Republican response: "Who cares, We are thugs. We do what we want."

Hitler/Bush/Hamas - all elected "democratically" at the time for who was allowed to vote. What's your point? People cast their ballots.

NO THEY WEREN'T.

In order to be "democratically" elected, everyone of age has to be allowed to vote.

How many Jews were allowed to vote for Hitler?

How many Israelis were allowed to vote for Hamas or the palestinians?

None, there was no democratic vote made.

hitler was elected, but not to the office that he usurped.

never forget that.

hitler couldn't get the majority that he needed to legally do what he did, so he illegally declared himself fuhrer.

and i agree, that DOES have a familiar ring to it...

and so was Castro, and so was Chavez, and so was Mussolini, etc, etc etc. Those are not democracy. Those are dictators that are viewed as democratic societies because of a sham election.
