I can understand being washed and groomed and neatly attired as a sign of respect to others, but I just don't get the tie thing.

To paraphrase someone else's words: 'How can men be considered intelligent when they tie a little noose around their necks everyday'

Besides, in this world where women get equal rights (which I support by the way) why do women get to choose their formal clothing but men don't?

To me its really sad to see people from many various cultures ALL wearing the same boring suits and ties in formal situations (especially business and politics) as if they had no culture of their own.

To me, the homogenization of world cultures is a bad thing and the tie is symbol of this.

What do you think?

Don't wear a tie! It's their problem not yours. If they don't like it and they have the upper hand, have them show you the door. That is one place you don't need to be and anyone else can just go hang.

Our society, like every other one, has over the millennia, invested important symbolic meaning to attire. Why? Probably because humans are a highly social species, and we value ritual and metaphor over literalism.
Why do we still perform handshakes, long after the original reason was lost? Social ritual.

Don't think women have it easy! Ever tried to wear a pair of heels? A tie is easier, believe me. And, you may feel constrained by your limited fashion choices, but I as a woman, envy that you men have it so easy. All you have to do is choose a suit and tie, and you are dressed.
As far as the homogeneity issue, I tend to agree that it's a shame. It would be fascinating to see more of what other cultures consider formal clothing. But in the history of humanity, the dominant culture
tends to swallow up the weaker ones. I doubt that will ever change.

It is not fun for a guy to wear a condom. It interrupts the excitement and if it is not a lamb skin condom, rubber has little or no feeling. Listen , which would you rather have , a baby, or maybe STD's or have some guy go away unhappy. You have to think of your own safety girl. Sounds like you did him a big favor. If he does not come back then he wasn't worth it. Don't be in such a hurry to have sex with guys. Sounds like you are using sex to attract men. I'm glad you had sense enough to insist on them wearing a condom. That was smart. Maybe offer them a lamb skin if you really can not resist. I feel awkward about answering this but I'm concerned for you. Be safe girl, that would be my advice. Rev. TomCat

We still live in a stupid and superficial society!
when for many reasons and circumstances the attire is more important than the individual.
