I don't really like my voice, it has no expression. atleast thats what my friends tell me. They always say I show no expression with my voice. I always try to show emotion but they say it still sounds the same. What an I do to try to show emotion? Everyone else in my family shows emotion....my relatives even sing, with no practice, and they really good. Singing is in the family but then if it is why don't i show expression? Can anyone tell me how to make my voice show emotion? please i really don't like it.

In macho cultures males tend to limit their expressiveness and even their vocabulary to appear more "masculine" or at least not to stand out in the crowd that might tease them if they said "Bob,,those are gorgeous shoes."

I loved your question ! It made me laugh so hard imagining the people.

You might enjoy playing around with it to see people's reactions. Like,
go in a store and call a clerk "sweetie darling" (Not in a horndog way, just kind of innocently)
Or ask a real tough kind of guy to give you a sentence with the word "fabulous."
I think if you study the intonations in many languages will hear different degrees of expresiiveness shown by pitch and stress and word length, and you will find patterns of masculine and feminine styles of speaking.
Actually singing songs you like and FEEL can also be fun, but being expected to sing some old whiners just because the group is can also deflate your expressiveness.
Don't worry about it, just have fun. You should show expression on things that interest you, like when you say WOW! If you don't ever even say WOW at anything, go on out and play.

Try taking an acting class or singing in a choir....also consider the possibility that you either sound like Pedro in Napolian Dynamite and work with it....or your friends could be full of baloney.

Well, to get expression in your voice you have to alternate the tones of your voice, from loud to moderate, soft to strong, and high to low, and emphasize words when talking..When you emphasize certain words when you're talking it shows emotion, importance, and meaning...☺ Good Luck
