have to use so much clay. Will it heat ok with the clay. For example make a foil head then create a clay face to put on for the face so I don't have to use my clay for the insides that noone will see and it will save me money. Thank you for any help.

Definitely! Tightly-compacted aluminum foil makes a great armature under polymer clay, and it doesn't heat up excessively or anything like that. When making clay heads, for example, you really need an armature underneath the clay if it will be thicker than about 1 1/4", and not just to save on clay.
One doll artist actually uses layers of crumpled aluminum foil with hot glue in-between as armatures for her heads.

There's loads of info on using aluminum foil --and other materials too-- as permanent armatures under polymer clay heads and bodies or other items at my website if you want to check these pages:

aluminum foil makes a great filler, just make sure that you make it really compact. You don't want any air in there. Just squeeze it until it is really tight and the shape and size you want. start out with a small piece of foil and then add as you need it. Trust me it is much easier to add the foil as opposed to trying to take it away. Another plus to saving money as you are saving clay is that you are cutting down the baking time too. If you used solid clay you would have to bake it for much longer. I've used foil many times and have always had good results. Good Luck!
