Or will they finally grasp reality about the human spirit?

The left just think they know what's better for you.

I think it would be scary to live under socialized medicine. You might need surgery to survive and you have the government telling you you're to old to have surgery and let you die.
Or it would take weeks or months to see a doctor because you have a bad cough. The doctor caught my pneumonia when I went to visit him. Under socialized medicine I would have to wait weeks and would die of pneumonia.
Socialized medicine is a bad idea.
I hate the left.

I don't know what to think about socialized medicine... I can tell you one thing though, medical schools are getting smaller and more doctors are not gong for specialties like neurosurgery or pediatrics because the malpractice insurance is skyrocketing.... of course, with socialized medicine there would be no need of malpractice insurance (or it would be very limited, if any)...

I just think your question is too simple to answer... there are a lot of outside factors that will play into this.

But you can relax, our Congress will never allow a comprehensive medical plan bill to pass. The lobbies are way too powerful to prevent this and the Senate has great benefits already... they could not personally benefit from such legislature. They just say these things to make the voters think they really care. Once they are elected it will go away... trust me.

BTW, the medical insurance, drug companies (and physicians') lobbies pay to both sides of the aisle. They have LOTS of money to bankroll their efforts and will ensure a victory.

Why wouldn't they be? People aren't denied brain surgery if they don't have health insurance, but your premiums go up because they aren't. I'm not really for socialized medicine, but government funded health insurance is another story. A little socialism is an essential part of a society that doesn't fail.Your probably the product of the socialist public school system; which does need some work, but keeps our nation from crumbling. BTW, plenty of rich Americans travel to socialist Europe to receive treatments and surgeries that are not offered in the U.S.

At least the Dem's are trying to come up with a solution. The best the republicans can come up with is the ridiculous idea of health savings accounts. Do you have a solution to 50 million people without health insurance? Or does the GOP simply not give a sh_t about them? TH ATS the true human spirit, showing concern for your fellow man.

Thing is, what is the good of having brilliant surgeons and wonder drugs if over half the population just has to die because they can't afford them?

Free market and productivity don't solve everything, in fact free marketers can explain better than I can why using strict free market as the rule for health insurance means that really sick people will eventually be totally uninsured, all in the name of the free market pursuit of maximum profitability..

maybe they are ignoring the fact that rich people from other countries come here for surgery . Maybe they think it is just for sightseeing
