I'm looking to clean my driveway with a power washer and was looking for some insight on using sodium hypochlorite (bleach 12% solution) to do the job.

sodium hypoCHLORITE is the same thing as bleach, just a different form. the best way to etch your concrete is muriatic acid, spray it on and rinse out your sprayer with water,

Answer number one is correct in stating that even household bleach will affect any sprayer. Certainly one might assume you'd clean it well after use, no matter caustic chemicals or Kool Aid.

I'd also go with Chlorine, and/or Muriatic Acid, rinsing thoroughly after any substance you choose.

None of the above however will remove every stain, etc. to a point of the drive (if concrete) looking like a White Hanes T shirt. Chlorine will kill mold. It does not affect "Dirt" M.A. is pretty much an Etching solution. Grease and oil residue from vehichles presents deeper cleaning challenges.

Obviously the POWER washer is doing as much of the work anyway.

First of all, (and I do this so often) apply any soultion in a "Hansen/Pump sprayer" usually with a 2.5 gallon capacity. DON'T dillute the substance. Let it work as it's supposed to then Pressure wash direct from the hose/water line.

Even diluted, Bleach will likely kill some grass/foliage adjacent to the drive, but with enough dillution from the pressure wash you may get away well enough.

Liquid Chlorine, sold at any pool store is probably in the same expense range as M.A. or household bleach, per gallon.

I don't know the dilution ratio, but liquid chlorine is a great driveway and white vinyl siding cleaner.
Chlorine will corrode the metal parts in your tank sprayer wand, I would assume bleach would do the same.

i wouldnt put it in the tank, it could rot your hoses. i would apply it before you spray so it can soak into the concrete. ive only used hypochlorite at work and before i pressure wash the concrete i just pore it on the concrete
