i have a leather bound copy of "The Greatest Story ever Told" that the face page says copyright 1949 - is this worth anything or should I just donate it to the library? - the pages are sewn not glued in it - I have several old books , just wondering about what their worth might be before i put them in a yard sale

Always ask the local librarian if s/he would like books before you put them in a yard sale. If they aren't worth anything, the librarian will be honest.

As a side note, many libraries have book sales during the year and you might want to think of simply donating the books you have to that.

It's probably worth more in nostalgic value to an amateur collector like you... I'm afraid you would not get much for it unless it was a rare volume. I have many many old books that I have picked up from sales dirt cheap, and I adore having them on my shelf... They mean a lot to me, but not really much to an eBay bidder...

It's probably not worth much unless it's a first edition or signed by the author.

I wouldn't donate it to the library! I don't even think people go there anymore.
