I need your advice about noise reduction when sleeping. I moved to New York city recently and live at a place in the downtown Manhattan. The place is excellent in terms of transportation and city life etc. The bad side is the noise in the evenings. My room faces an extremely busy street directly and there are many cars back and forth even after mid-night. My rough estimate is that the only period when the traffic becomes slightly quieter is from 3:00am - 6:00am in the morning. Even worse, there is many pubs and clubs around. And directly beneath me is a pizza shop and it likes to play hard rock and roll with disco flavors. I tried to talk with the shop owner many times, but he seems doesn't care about police and fine, etc. The pizza shop plays the hard rock and roll for the whole night and tends to increase the volume after mid-night. Taking all the noise sources into account, there is zero time that the place is quiet. I've bought rubber ear plugs and it helped a bit but not too much.

Boise has some headsets that are great. However sleeping with them may be a problem, although I do it on planes. This might surprise you, you will get used to the noise and sleep like a baby. I worked in NYC for three years and I think I rented the same apartment. (They all sound the same). After leaving the quiet woke me at nights.
