I read a study on it once, and it contained the word "yawn" over 70 times... at the end, it said that the average person would have yawned 10 times, while reading it. They had no sure explanation for it, either.
(BTW - I just yawned, and am about to again...)
totally weird, isn't it?

I don't know. It's a mystery. I did have this theory once that it's because they take it air which you would otherwise breath , so you have to yawn to make up for it, but I doubt that's true. I've also noticed that if you think about yawning a lot it can also make you yawn. I yawned whilst typing this message twice!

I remember reading about this once. Supposedly, when humans were cavemen yawning was used in comuinication. So when we see someone yawn, we respond back with another yawn.

i thenk humans are prone to sugestion ♥ of they see sleepy images, they may begin to think they are sleepy too, also peoples bodies often conform to each others cycles when people are living together, and people in the same enviroment may be experiancing the same stimuli and have the same conditions that wud validate a yawn
lol that mythbusters article is saying how a 4% differance in those who yawned with/with seeing soemone else yawn. 4% is not enough to validate an actual statistical differance.

*YAWN* I don't know why that is. When I used to be in math class and it was nice and quiet I used to fake a yawn and see how long it took to spread through the class.....it was like a wave.:)
