i have a verizon prepaid phone and i want to get a monthly plan but i want to keep the same phone.

you need to call customer service.
They will change your esn number in the computer system and then offer you a calling plan. you will have to sign a one year contract. if you terminated there will be a prorated charge of $175. They reduce it about $5 a month over the 12 months.
Now, the trick is this. I worked for VZ. They will charge you $20 to change the esn, Electronic Serial Number. Tell them you tired to do it on line and it failed. They will waive the fee.
I never charged anyone for this as the sutomer pays a lot for the service But the other a$$holes, like to ding the customers.
So remember my trick and you will save money.
Also tell them since you are going from pre pay to post pay to give you some bonus minutes. They will do it for you
