Vista is not correctly recognizing your USB; it is a common problem with new laptops and Vista. I know Sony, Acer and HP all have had similar problems due to Vista driver compatability issues. Check your PC's manufactures' website for the downloadable fix; it should be very easy to download and install, depending on the manufacturer.

Does the notebook detect the USD flash disk when u plug in?As far as i know everytime you plug in a new hardware into a Vista OS machine, it will take some time for Vista to configure and to recognise the hardware..If Vista is able to detect the flash drive then i think that the flash drive is not properly formatted to be compatible with Vista..You can try formatin the flash drive..in My Computer..Right-Click on the USB flash drive..Select Format..

Not sure, you might want to right click on the thumbdrive and look under properties, see if there is a box for write protection. Mine have never been write protected.

viva on your USB pen-drive there is little switch which might be set at write-protection. Try changing position of your switch and try again.
