You've got the flu! Yuck. That's horrible. If you are a restaurant owner, I'll bet my bottom dollar you are having to work some anyway. Restaurant work is the longer hours over hard labor around. Hope you get over it quick!
As for me; Am I ever! Yippee Skippee!
Had a group of "the boys" over for what we call UTVSC. That stands for Uncle Tockers' Video Supper Club. I always cook up a big feast and then about 5 or 6 of us watch a video. Last night we saw Wedding Crashers (give it a B+, but not an A).
I made skinless fried chicken. It's the same as fried chicken like you do in a cast iron skillet only you pull all the skin (fat) off first, then season it up, dip it in egg, and flour it. Cook until a nice golden brown and finish it in the oven. It's wonderful and healthier. When you take a bite you get crispy flavor the whole way around the piece. The skin doesn't all come off on the first bite.
Then I served Paula Deen's Mashed Potato Bake (available on Foodnetwork. com). Now as a restaurant owner, you should know that you just can't pan fry chicken without making the chicken gravy with the pan drippings, flour, and milk...right? So I did that too so my guest could put the gravy over their potatoes or my own cheesy-garlic biscuits.
Then I made a BIG AZZ pot (cast iron dutch oven) of beanie weenie. Baked beans with cut smoked sausage, onions, a little brown sugar and Sweet Baby Ray's sauce.
Being kind of an indoor country picnic meal I threw in some corn on the cob. How easy it that?
For dessert, I had two pies. One was cherry with a crumb topping, and the other was a sugar-free apple. Fat-free, sugar-free vanilla ice cream was there if you wanted it. You may or may not know that I'm a barriactric surgery patient. So far, I've lost 125 pounds and am not about to screw up now. Getting down to where I look like I did in my 20's. Size anyway.......
To me.....this kind of thing makes for a perfect day. I love to cook for friends. I also love to can food in mason jars with a pressure cooker, y'know?
This morning, the dishwasher is running. I never let my guest help with clean up. That's no fun for them. I hate clean-up, but the cooking fun for me and the enjoyment of my dinner guests is always worth it. I really do like this kind of stuff.
So to answer your question....My week-end is going pretty good.

Look on the brightside - more than likely the flu will last one day and you will start feeling better by the second day. Take an Advil - drink a lot of water and rest. Try to eat healthy also so you don't get more run down than you are already. I hope you feel better soon!! If the flu last more than 4 days I would see your doctor, perhaps he can give you some medication.

So far so good. Man, I sure hate to hear that you've got the flu and especially this time of the year. Are you sure it wasn't something that you ate. I've been doing a lot of bbqing the past few weeks and am sure that I got a touch of salmonella poisoning a couple of times from either cross contamination or undercooked chicken. The symptoms are similar but don't last as long as the flu. Well take care and I hope you start feeling better.

Oh, that sucks. It seems like I get sick a lot during my time off as well. :(
I was sick last weekend (had an allergic reaction to a medication I was on), but this weekend I feel great. I'm going to go run around now. :)
I hope you feel better soon. Get some rest!
