How long can a betta live?
please don't give me how long your betta has lived....because i know yours might not have lived that long

I have fed it and changed it every week just like people said to do. This is my betta's 4rth yr and now it has dropsy.

The average is 2-3 years, but with good care, they should be able to live at least 3-5. The link below says they may live "to be nearly 8 years old", but an book I have on them lists two that made 9 years, but these were in more controlled conditions at universities, where the fish were even "excercised" by students.

The average lifespan of Bettas is about 1-1/2 years, although some are able to keep them for longer.

About 5 years sometimes more, to ward off any suspicion, mine is about a year old right now. Their lifespan greatly depends on their home, if you give them a heated tank with a filter and about5 gallons of water, I'm sure you could keep it alive for 7 years, but many people keep in in a dirty, cramped, cold vase, which cuts the lifespan to close to 2 years.

well betta live some where around 1-2 years and it's depend on how good you raise your betta

Bettas can live about three years, usually, but they can also live up to five years in some cases.

well, in captivity, 1-2 years is the mean... in their natural habitat... it can live upto 3-4 years,,, i hope you can break it.=)

it matters if you over fed it or not! So i dont know if you over fed it or not! if you over fed it or did not wash the fish tank{if you have one} it will die!
