you don't have to take lessons to learn how to play second fiddle but you may need a few in how do deal with the fact that you are second fiddle. it's a very hollow feeling.

to play the second fiddle requires no lesson but to play the third fiddle requires at least 10 lessons :-)

People have to play a second fiddle quite often in life for their own survival till a better job opening comes their way.
I have done it when I started working. Now, I do not have to.

I would think so, otherwise you wouldn't make much good music if you didn't know how to play the fiddle.
