Then why can't we have pet clumps of dirt? Or pet ice cubes? Or pet water droplets? OR PET SPITBALLS???

Oh I actually have a pet ice cube named Pongo. He lives in my freezer in a plastic baggie. He's been living there for TWO YEARS.

because rocks are awesome and they never change. dirt just falls apart and ice cubes melt and spitballs eventually dry up and water droplets evaporate
