What is a good major for someone with no clue of what they want to do?

For starters, I would choose a major that can actually get you a job when you graduate. That eliminates a major bulk of social science and humanities type majors.

Look into majors that give you real marketable skills. These would includes engineering areas, computer science, nursing, business fields, social work, even education.

Didn't you have to declare some sort of major to get your AA degree?

Anyway, go back to your community college and ask a counselor if there is some sort of aptitude test you could take. That might give you a clue. Then stop and think about the classes you've taken and the things you like to do. What is there in the way of occupations that you could do that would include some of the things you like to do and still put money in your pocket.

Don't be afraid to change majors or occupations. The last I heard, most young people in your position will change careers five times before retirement. That's not jobs, but actual careers. There are some jobs out there that didn't exist five years ago and there are some jobs that existed five years ago that don't exist today. (So you want to be a typewriter repairman!) Be ready to learn and jump in when you can. This could be interesting and fun. It shouldn't be boring.

I understand your confusion and concern, but don't be too afraid.

Think about the courses you took that you really liked, or what you've always been interested in, or career paths that might be a good fit for your interests. Usually a major like psychology or sociology gives you a lot of different exposures to different areas.
