as an ex classroom instructor I think it is stupid as well, but look at it from another side....it is an attempt to stop bullying which seems to be rampant in schools now.
For a few many must suffer....I would rather see the hugging and the hand holding and even some kissing....but not the violence of bullying. If you kids could eliminate the bullying then the other might return.

It's quite sad and scary as well..What's going to happen when these kids become adults ..
And have to think twice about giving someone a hug, or hold a love ones hand..This will have an lasting effect in later years.
Psychiatrists will have their offices filled, to say the least!

The over crowded public schools have difficulty keeping adequate control to protect the students safety. The lack of financial supports perpetuates and increases these problems. The schools are trying to reduce the risk of injuries by establishing rules such as this no touching rule. It is a symptom of the overcrowding issue as is lower student proficiency and higher drop out rates. It is not reasonable to expect students to abandon normal self expression and wrong to punish them for it. At the same time it is not reasonable to hold the school staff responsible for injuries caused by over crowded conditions. But parents who demand freedom to touch for their children would not hesitate to sue the school if their child were to be accidentally injured.

It is ridiculous. Come on a Hi 5? Maybe they should teach sign language as a required course in schools that way we can speak to each other from across the room instead of face to face.

I find it very stupid, I can understand if they don't want making out, but like I think a little peck is okay and holding hands is alright and so is hugging, and high fives? why can't you guys do that? wellI think everything is acceptable except making out and sex obviously in school is effing nasty.

That's not new, tho. Once, in oh, about 1956 or so, my little brother put his arm around my shoulders. Teacher threw a total hissy fit. We almost got detention.
