one of my bf's (for a week or so) had a habit of saying 'F*** off!' as a form of exclamation. he used it to mean 'my goodness, that sounds almost too incredible to be true'

Kind of, my ex husband always says "it isn't rocket science". I have found myself saying ot occasionally, but a few weeks ago our little boy asked me if you learn rocket science at college.
