Hard to say. The weather in Phoenix is pretty unpredictable. This last January it was chilly (at least for us natives) in January and snowing up North, but the year before in January it was pretty warm and too hot up North for any snow. If you are from back east, you'll probably find it nice warm weather in January in the day (even if we are walking around in jackets) but the evenings will be cold. Desert cold is hard to explain, it is different than other types of cold, it goes right through you to the bones. I recommend bringing items you can layer so if it is nicer you are ready but if it is colder you have items to add on. Definitely need a jacket for evenings though.

January is chilly. Temps peak in the high 40's-mid 50's. Jeans, light sweaters, sweatshirts would be more appropriate attire. A jacket may be needed at night or if you're outside some in the day time. I probably wouldn't recommend laying out for a tan, but there are plenty of indoor tanning booths all over.

It's still chilly in the Phoenix area in January. Bring something warm, but nothing heavy.Out version of keeping warm is very different from elsewhere, so plan on a long sleeved shirt, a light jacket, jeans, and socks and tennis shoes. But I know people who wear sandals and shorts year round. It gets very cold in the morning though. Sun tan season starts in March, give or take a month.

January
Average high temperature: 66
Average low temperature: 41
Warmest ever: 88
Coldest ever: 17
Average precipitation: .8
So you can see - the range is quite a bit - from cold to very warm. There will be days you can lay out and get a tan - the sun can be warm even if the temperature is temperate.

January is in the 40's and 50's - sunny, but not exactly laying out weather. You could probably still get a tan if you stayed outside, but I don't think you'd want to lay out.

It's always bright and sunny but there is a nip in the air. Bring a light jacket and I suppose if you don't mind the cold you could get a slight tan.

You can still wear shorts etc... Sometimes it cools down and there is rain . Not very often though. Plenty of tanning to be had.
