It's just how we are made. Some are more emotional than others but it's natural to cry when we have a strong emotion; be it laughing - sad or mad!

It's also a way for the body to flush excess neurotransmitters from the brain during highly charged emotional episodes.
That's why we feel better after we cry. That's why children cry so easily. That's why macho men should cry more often.

I don't know the exact reason, but Elaine Morgan in her book "The Descent of Women", says that all animals who went into the sea when we did, weep when disturbed.
Other signs of a mammal's near-defection into the sea are loss of hair, covering of fat, a great increase in size and intelligence. They are all communicative. The others, easily recognized are elephants, pigs, seals and hippopotamuses. All of us weep like seabirds with distress. Going into the sea during a very hot million-year burn-up is the reason we are the upright ape probably..

See http://www.wonderquest.com/weep.htm . A few lines from it:
"Weeping is the shedding of tears to express emotion. We don't know why we weep. However, we speculate and here are some guesses:"
. . .
"People of all cultures weep:"

Good question. I think it is the brain's way of showing joy and sadness. I notice that when my eyes tear from happiness, my body feels good and when I am saddened I feel quite the opposite.

individually, I cry rather, and that's often through fact i think related to the region or individual. once I cry, it rather is ninety% from being happy of being superbly moved. the different 10% is while i'm unhappy or disappointed.
