I think you should throw in a third option: trade. KC's rebuilding and probably shouldn't spend the money it'll take to re-sign him (he's probably thinking long term deal too) when he's at his peak right now, they are giving him 400+ carries in a season, and they won't be a contender for a few years.

Are you kidding? Maybe Kc thinks its easy just to go out and get a good running back but if they cocky and don't sign a brilliant talent like Larry Johnson they'll soon be wishing they had. Plus I don't think they have a long term answer at Quarterback and haven't had a good Wr since Superbowl 2.
If they don't sign Larry Johnson they'll have a tuff time answering to fans why they have no talent on offense at all.

LJ is sitting or he will play without the chiefs paying him more. I am a chiefs fan and hope they find a way for him to play, but I don't see a reason to have him sign a huge contract. He carried the ball over 400 times last year which means he got hit A LOT which will shorten his career. He is already getting up there in age so the chiefs will not give him a long contract.

I hope so.
Without him in the backfield, unless they have some secret weapon running back that they aren't revealing yet ready to come in and do what he's done and can still do, I don't think KC will be a contender without him.
Don't tell anybody, but I think KC is TRYING to QUIETLY REBUILD and they may have already found LJ's replacement.

Since the chiefs are dead without Larry Johnson, they will pay him whatever he wants.

I would love to see one of these guys just sit and waste a year or even more of playing time especially in a position that has a real short career span. Eventually no one will sign them due to age.

No chance whatsoever that he'll sit the year out. He'll get his money, but I'm not sure if he'll still be with the Chiefs.

he will get traded to a new team, hopefully the Packers, LJ was on the trading block during the NFL draft, that tells you that kc is looking to rebuild. GO PACK GO!
