I drove it home with no problems. Before I got home, I filled the tank up and stopped at the bank. I left the car running, but when I got in to take off, it stopped. I waited awhile before it started again. It kept stopping en route home. Once parked it wouldn't start again. There is no clicking sound; it doesn't "catch". Everything shuts off. i have oil in it, but I don't think it's enough. My anti-freeze reservoir is very close to bone dry. There was never any smoke. The car didn't shake. It jerked after being stopped before going. I suspect the alternator but I want to be sure. Any suggestions, hints, thoughts?

It could be a few different things. If the radiator is low enough the engine can get hot and shut down or even lock up.Check the radiator when the car/engine is cold{not the reservoir}. If the radiator is full I would start with the battery, you local auto parts store will check it for free, at least they do here where I live. I hope that it is the battery or alternator, they are less expensive that having an engine rebuilt.

Notice where the battery cables connect to the battery. They need to be loosened and wiggled around to get a better connection.Use a 5/16 wrench or pliers.

Remove the battery terminals & thouroghly clean. Fully charge the battery, then load test. Have the alternator voltage output checked.
