I'm thinking about buying a K&N filter for my 1995 escort (1.9 liter). K&N claims that their filters improve performance and gas mileage. I also know that they can be washed and reused many times. If you use one of these filters, please tell me about your experiences with them.

Ive got a k&n filter on my XR8 it does increase horse power slightly and fuel economy can get better but face it if your putting a performance filter on your car then your not really concerned about fuel economy more like horsepower. But i have had no dramas with it just make sure you use the correct K&N filter recharge kit when cleaning ....To answer your question id would vary on how you drive

Stock clean filter produces about the same mileage as a K&N or other filter. K&N might give a VERY slight bump in horsepower at wide open throttle, but fuel mileage is not made at wide open throttle. I have tried K&N filters on 2 different vehicles and the only difference I noticed is that may wallet was a little lighter. Also I believe that the K&N doesn't filter quite as well as a stock filter hence the increased airflow. There is not much difference between the 2. You will notice a bigger gain in fuel mileage just by maintaining proper pressure in your tires.

I put one on my 5.9 dodge truck about 4 years ago & cant tell any difference in gas milage, same thing when I gutted my catylic converter no difference. I reset my trip meter & check my m.p.g. every fillup It varys a lot due to weather & traffic conditions so so you have to average it out over a year or so. 3 mpg difference one tank to the next is normal if I drive in fast heavy traffic on 1 tank or mostly hi way on the next. with the oxygen sensors & computers on them now nothing you do will make much of a change because the computer optimizes the air fuel ratio to compensate for any changes you make

I have a 2000 For Expedition, 4WD, 4.6L engine. After installing the K&N filter, I noticed about 1 MPG improvement.

I bought my K&N filter and through it away and put the sticker on the window, right away I noticed an improvement in perfornamce and fuel economy.

Do some reasearch not ever add on does something for your car and not every manufacture label is correct if it was then spending $200.00 is a parts store can add 200hp to your car.

If fact some aftermaket air filter hamper the fuel economy and performance.

I have a 1984 Chevy Suburban with the GM 6.2 Diesel engine, I bought a K&N, and, in my case, it wasn't that big of a deal. No improvment on Torque or HP, No improvement on Fuel economy, and my engine is a well maintained diesel.
