You do realise I can't give you a star now, for what is a very good question.
It used to intrigue me also, then I came across what I considered to be a really stupid question. At first I thought the asker was a bit of an airhead, but as I began to read the replies, I started to laugh. Reading the answers was great fun - really enjoyed it.
So now, if I wanted to learn something, I go for the serious questions and answers; if I want a laugh, I look for something like "What have I got in my pocket right now?
It's only a bit of fun.
I'm sure you'll understand about the lack of a star. I'll get you next time!

I guess lots of people on here like the two points for an easy answer rather than thinking about it or searching for the answer, I for one will put the time in if I'm interested in the Q enough to search for the answer and provide a link to the source of the answer as I feel it's the right thing to do as I wouldn't want people to think I know it if all I've done is copied and pasted the info

Banal and less intricate = easier to answer.
So more people answer, especially those from the bottom of the gene pool.
Fewer people are as well read and informed on matters of a more scientific or erudite nature. So fewer answers will be given.
It's nice to kick back sometimes and just answer stupid questions...

Because a lot of people on here don't have the foggiest idea what "banal" or "intricate" means - and the rest are doing this so they don't have to think. Easy answers make for the kind of light entertainment many people are looking for.

I guess the average IQ of people on this is about 50!! lol
I've also noticed people don't answer the question asked, they just type random rubbish!
I asked - If you were a biscuit which would you be and why to try and see how imaginative people would be. I got about 5 people telling me what their favourite biscuit is and a recipe for biscuits that someone copied and pasted from a recipe site.
I prefer to answer opinion seeking type questions that actually
deserve an answer.
(I'm giving you a star)

I cant speak for everyone else but I have a job that is mentally challenging and I cant afford to make mistakes. Ya is a bit of light stress less entertainment for me. If I wanted to know something specific I would search the Internet.

Because people of all ages could answer it, and also it is something in general where we don't have to think so hard when answering. ^_^
Because of this reason too that I tried my best to ask banal questions yet at the same time something that no one asked before!

Usually because most of the people here don't want to think but to relax. As a result they tend to answer questions which require nothing more than common sense.
