Hey fellow Okie, Stillwater here. There are all kinds of Roses you can grow. I would stay away from the hybrid teas unless you really love them because they are weaker than most of varieties and are not very disease resistant. I love them though and have a few of my own ;) I currently have 10 roses of different varieties and am expecting 4 more. One of my favorites is the knockout rose which you can find just about anywhere. Another good and hardy rose is a climber. Just train them on something and let them go. Anyhow, there are way to many to tell you about so here are some of my favor links.
They give detailed descriptions and care instructions for roses.

Any color of Knockout roses, they will grow in sun or partial. Remember to cut them back to 6" in early spring. They just about take care of themselves, bug free also.
