Her last 2 seasons, she ran with 2 (different) dogs. they played and ...etc Though everytime the dog tried to insert, she refused quickley, swinging around and yelping? I really don't think she was yelping because of any pain, as I observed and the dog would be lucky if he just got it to her vulva.
Has anyone ever heard of this? Is ythere a remedy aprt from
IAS?

In Country Aus, we refer to animals mating, as 'running with them.' It is a general term which stems from mainly livestock.
My dog was under constant supervision. I Love her too much for anything/one to hurt her.
And yes I am aware of the other issues you have mentioned, but, I just wanted to know the Answer to my QUESTION!

Frigid? I've never known anything FROM Chihuahua to be frigid. I dont think it's possible. (sorry, just a little joke)
Kitkat wants to know what YOU are doing wrong. (YOU are doing nothing wrong. YOU'RE not trying to mate)
Dogs rule is a leftist idiot, who just wants to tell everyone else what to do with THEIR dogs.
Raspberryswirll CLAIMS to be a vet with YOUR best interests at heart, but doesnt want you doing anything by yourself. Of course not. If you did that vets would not get paid. Also, she says most dogs "can't do this alone (give birth). Thats a bunch of crock. 99.999 percent of ALL animals (including dogs) do this alone. That doesnt mean that complications CANT arise, but remember, it IS a natural process.
Gee, I wonder what dogs did for thousands of years without them to help (and send bills).
But just to be on the safe side, have the dog checked out to make sure that all is normal. If so, then just let the dog run with several different dogs during her cycle. It could just be that she has taken a disliking to a particular dog. That happens.
If she still doesnt want anything to with none of the dogs, then you might have to go the IAS route if you really want to breed her.
If she does get pregnant, have her checked out periodically to make sure all is progressing normally.
I wouldnt overworry this. Remember dogs have been doing this for a very long time without our help.

I don't know much about dog breeding but I know a lot about dogs. You may be exposing your Chihuahua to the male at the wrong time during her heat. Also, my daughter has a male Chihuahua & he yelps, as if he's hurt, seemingly for no reason.. He can be just walking across the room & yelp. Don't know why. If your dog won't breed then it wasn't meant to be. I wouldn't spend $$ for a Vet to find out the reason.
Not for this sort of thing. Just enjoy your doggie.
I wish you well.

Lady Eagle;
I do not know much about the professional breeding of dogs. What I do know is that dogs have been getting pregnant, and having litters for a very long time without our help.
I had a golden which did just that... and she had her pups all on her own, and she took excellent care of them.
I did have her fixed after that because the dog breeding business is not what I want to get into.
I have known of dogs who yelp at the time of attempted insertion.. (neighborhood dogs breeding randomly), so again, I do not have a good answer for you there.

I would first have the female checked for a luxating patella. the very act of being mounted will often hurt the patella if there are problems with it. When you take her to be checked for this by a vet, he/she will generally do just a palpation, feeling the joint as he flexes it..If there is no problem, then the vet can often get the dogs to mate, and if not, do an AI. Be sure to take the male along on the vet visit. Hey! I used to breed Chihuahuas. way back when

I believe you. My Mom once had a chihauhau who would never breed. We tried handling the situation ourselves and when that didn't work we took her to a breeder, so I'm sure it was done right. She would never allow the male dogs close enough th breed. When we put her in a pen with a male dog she would climb the fence and be waiting at the back door of the house by the time we could get there. I suppose it could be something in the breed. I've never heard of a dog of any other breed who refused to be bred.

Dogs are in heat for two weeks, the middle of the two weeks is when the dog is ready to breed, in the beginning of the two weeks and at the end of the two weeks most dogs will not breed, Your dog will breed when the time is right for her.

what day of her season did you try and mate her?
female dogs will usually only mate during the second week of their three week season, sometimes a few days less.
you obviously dont know what you are doing, please dont mate your dog. you are putting her life at risk.
just the mating part can seriously injure her (actually tear her - ive had a few females come to me dying of blood loss from owners not knowing how to mate them properly). you shouldnt let them run around together letting them try to mate continuously.... yes, she could have been yelping because of pain.
after that, theres a lot that can go wrong during pregnancy and in birth. you need to know how to look after and feed a pregant mum, also you need to know what to do during birth - most dogs cant do it alone.
what are you going to do if a pup is stuck and dead inside her? will you even know how to tell if she is ok?
if she needs a c-section, itll cost over $1000.... and these are common.
seriously... leave it to people who know what they are doing.. your dog doesnt need to suffer just because you want puppies.

Dogs aren't frigid, it means she didn't like the male (not uncommon) or wasn't at the right point of her cycle. Please do some research on breeding QUALITY animals, not just throwing 2 dogs together- if you had her 'running' with 2 diff. males, you're not being picky enough about her mates.
