138 is not genius. 148 is not genius. 158 and 168 are near-genius, 178 is more like it for genius.
Mensa may regard 148 as genius but that doesn't mean it is! Obviously they want people to join, pay a subscription, buy their products and services, so they don't set the bar too high or they don't make much money!
148 and above is 2% of the population. There are nothing like that number of geniuses in the population.
I have an IQ of 165 and that is regarded as near-genius. But I would say that genius doesn't start till the person has an IQ of 180 or over. It is no part of my ego to pretend I am something I am not, and unfortunately MENSA panders to that egotistical streak in people. So I have no interest in joining it.
If you have an original mind, you know that you have, because you are using it on a regular basis. You don't need a piece of paper with an IQ Certificate printed on it to tell you that. And you don't need a MENSA membership card to prove it either!
As Bob Dylan once sung/wailed,
"You don't need a Weatherman to know which way the wind blows!"
LET US BE REALISTIC ABOUT GENIUS:
HAVE YOU EVER MET ONE?
Albert Einstein and Leonardo da Vinci, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Carl Friedrich Gauss would seem to me to be the founder members of the genius club and the question that others need to ask of themselves is: do I have a similar stature to such as these?
It is a matter of being honest with yourself and not trying to impress anyone. That way vanity lies and self-deception.
Sorry if my being candid is depressing news for you. You can still live a happy and contented life, using your brain to the best of your ability! I do. You can too. But forget the admiration you crave. It really isn't worth having.

Depends on your IQ test. Some tests are barely able
to measure upto 160, which means actually values only
till 120 are reliable.
Use a test that outputs upto 400 or so, to check if your 138
is correct. Once I took tickle test, and got 146 or so. But
scoring that high in Mensa is difficult. Given sufficient
time I can solve all problems. If it is not time limited,
then the IQ test is not good.
Since I am not a genius with 146, 138 probably isn't.

I scored 150 on a Mensa test and i am 14 but i don't think i am a genius so i don't think 138 is. But people are smart in different ways so don't rely on I.Q. tests too much.

2% of the population is above 148??? I don t think so. And this from someone who claims to have an IQ of 165.
Average IQ is 100 with a standard deviation of 10 points. So 148 is almost 5 standard deviations. Frequency of an IQ of 148 or higher occurs one in 1,455 people.
Of course, I would caution that kind of IQ is only valid on an individually administered IQ test like a Stanford-Binet. NOT some internet self test.

Actually Mensa requires a score of 148 to be cosidered genius. Where as others look at scores above 140 genius or near genius.
