Try to check the cost from TigerDirect.com, but make sure that you got the same RAM specifications and it should be compatible with your Motherboard.

Well, you did not mentioned what type of motherboard and processor you got. Because RAM type depends with it.

you can get it from a local vendor.

Be carefully to take get a original one as they are many look alike.

I got my PC upgraded to 1 GB for 5$.

depends what you buy a 512 stick of non generic ram can be about £30 for 1gig about £60 if you buy decent named ram like kingston or ocz or crucial it might be more pricey but better quality
