I have a Sony PCV-RX860 which is very slightly modified.

Intel Pentium 4 2.4ghz

160GB Hard Drive Space (Original 80gb)

1.5GB DDR SDRAM (Original 512mb)

Video Memory: 32mb (i know it sucks)

DVD -RW and CD-RW Drive (Bay 1)
CD-DRIVE (Bay 2)

Floppy Drive, MemoryStick Drive.

I bought it in 2002. How would you compare it to todays standards. Is it slow? Okay for everyday use? Im thinking of replacing it but should I give it more time? Im not sure what to do I want someone else's opinion. My opinion of couse its slow to todays computers but its not that slow that it will kill me. What to do?

you have plenty of power - once you have a cpu in that range there isn't a hugh amount of speed difference when you go higher. You have lots of ram adequate for doing anything you need, the video card sucks, but if you are not doing high end graphics stuff or playing high end video games it doesn't matter.

I wouldn't waste your money - I have pentium 4 - 2.6gig chip, a gig of ram of sdram and my boot time compared to my brothers 64 bit computer is maybe a second or two slower, who cares about that

The configuration you have with you present is excellent now. Because today many are purchasing with 512 DDR memory and 160 GB sata with Dual Core or P IV.

YOur processor is good for your any kind of work. You can install Vista also no slow better performance.

Sounds decent. As for your video memory, I honestly don't think it will be that bad unless you want to play some games. If you are interested in playing games on your PC, I'd buy a dedicated video card. Find one with maybe 64 or 128 MB video memory and you should be set.

May be a newer but not too expensive video card, other than that, a good clean up of Windows or a fresh installation should be all you need.

Sounds decent. Depends on what you are using it for. If you are using a lot of graphics or in an office venue, then you might wanna beef it up a little, but otherwise mine is even less than yours, and here I am.

If Video Memory doesn't bother you I wouldn't replace it. You can change the operating system if you really want to spend money.
