not a chance - windows XP requires much more power than is available in an old 486 - the computer won't let you install it

First, the old BIOS of that 486's board does not even recognize what we are talking about here. It might not even be capable of detecting the CD drive that you would need to load XP. Then, the system RAM could be too small to permit loading of XP. The hard drive could also be too small or BIOS is unable to recognize large hard drives.
BUT nobody is stopping you from giving it a try, then tell us all it.

Anything less than 12 to 1400 cannot handle it. Might accept it, but cannot handle it.
