I was just about to go to sleep when I got to thinking about yahoo answers again. Having gotten such pleasant responses on my first question, the one about the number of pizzas consumed during the life of a development project, I got to thinking about something a little more serious. I'm sure this has been asked, but let's talk about it again.

IF your question deals with how programs I wrote effect me GOTO line MYPROGS

If you wish to discuss how other people have influenced my programming style then GOTO line MYSTYLE.

ELSE
If you want to consider how programming effects our daily lives.

Programs are used by many of us in embedded applications in devices ranging from microwaves to Ipods. Programming micro controllers instead of building discrete circuitry has allowed technology and development to advance rapidly and provide us with affordable feature rich devices. Consider the cell phone.

GOTO END

MYPROGS:
I enjoy programming and started doing it as a hobby in the early 80's. If you like solving puzzles not much beats debugging a piece of troublesome code. Programming is also a great way to develop logical thinking and planning.

Once becomming relatively skilled in BASIC I was able to do things with a PC which ultimately made my work easier to do. (Such as develop a custom application etc.)

GOTO END

MYSTYLE:
I have learned a great deal from others especially in relation to coding. There a thousand ways to skin a cat and the same goes from problem solving in a program. Looking at how someone wrote a piece of code can speak volumns about how they think. In some cases you will see a different approach to a problem. So I have also tried to apply this analysis to other things besides programming
