my office gave a laptop with symantec antivirus already installed.i wanted to uninstall it then install avast antivirus.but a password is required to uninstall symantec & i dont have the password.the office has set it.how can i uninstall symantec?

If this laptop belongs to your office they probably have a corportate reason for using Symantec. Many corps do just that so that everyone is using the same protection it makes management of the system consistant for them.

If the program is "protected" it was done so for a reason. I would suggest you talk to your IT department if you want to change a security program that THEY HAVE INSTALLED on a MACHINE THEY OWN! Otherwise you may find yourself looking for another job for violating company policies.

Program can't be removed, it insists that it could not be removed for some reason. Many programs leave unused parts in the system after uninstall, Your Uninstaller 2006 fixed this problem. I guess you have a managed version of symantec antivirus installed on your machine. You cant delete it without a password but you can remove it manually by deleting the files associated with the software.
