I own a shop, and somewhat agree with you. Changing an automatic to a straight drive is a snap now. You can purchase the whole kit to do it with. Some people with muscle cars try to clone a regular Chevelle into a SS Chevelle, and do it to try to pass them off for big bucks. Most people that ask this question doesn't have a clue about mechanics, and yes it is a question that gets on your nerves, but it is a logical question. The V-6 swap to a V-8 is also a snap in some vehicles, but a nightmare in others. If you gotta ask someone how to do it, then you don't need to waste time asking, because they would never get-er-done. Changing a 2x4 to a 4x4 is nuts! Do what I do with these stupid questions, I stopped wasting my time to answer them. I try to help people who need help, and not try to rebuild a $200 car on line. I agree with the last one, but disagree with the first two, but only if they know what they are doing. Most people who doesn't know what they are doing, ask questions on here. The bottom line is; Being ignorant is not a crime, but asking the same dumb questions is stupid. Some people on here asks questions on how to fix things, and they don't even own any tools. Figure that one out???
Glad to put in my two cents worth!!!

I agree with Musiclicker, most people that ask about change overs have little or no mechanical knowledge. I,ve been a working mechanic for around 35 years and for most people the swaps will cost more than getting the vehicle with what they want. Engine and transmissions are fairly easy if there are the proper mounts available, Painless makes complete wiring kits to keep the EFI and transmissions working. But swapping a 2 to 4 wheel drive is a waste of time. Almost half of pickups today are 4x4's, Purchase one. If your building an off road race car or truck, your options and wallet are wide open.

I disagree with you. I have had many friends put a 350 in an S-10 or something like that and do so a lot more easily than you would think. Your response may be correct on a new car, but if someone is going to be restoring an older car, or just wants to beef it up, then swapping an engine and transmission can easily be done with the right knowhow.

While there seems to be a lot of people not wanting to do their own research-
There are no questions not worth answering as far a the asker is concerned.
You do not have to even read the question if it is going to upset you.
The desire to modify a ride is something many have. Many modifications make little or no sense to those who do not understand the feeling of owning a custom ride.
As for me-
Is there a body kit to turn a 68 falcon wagon into a 68 mustang delivery van (2 door) or would I have to do it myself? 4 wheel dive, and a 427 engine with shelby stripes?

I'll agree with you on numbers 1 and 3. But the V8 upgrade can be worth it. It just has to be done right. If you go from a 4.3 V6, to a 5.0 V8 you're not gaining much. But if you swap out the 4.3 for a 7.5, then you're getting something out of it.

Friendship, no it is not undesirable....my contacts purely this week helped me turn my head faraway from the darkness and in direction of the sunshine....it is not delusional in any respect, yet a fact.
