Why is my Gateway Notebook monitor heating up?

Its the parts below the toolbar on Desktop and Windows. Its like on the monitor part above the F9 key, but is below the LCD screen. Basically right below the Tool bar on Windows

That has happened on my last two laptops. The area you are describing is commonly where the power cord runs to the screen. The cord kind of lays flat on it's side. I imagine it gets pretty hot. Nothing really to worry about unless it becomes literally burning hot and starts to smoke.
