It is waiting for you to feed it.They think of two things one food and two sex if the climate and age was correct.
But I doubt whether it will sit there and look at you for one hour.

He's waiting for you to get up because there's a 3 day old shriveled hot dog lodged behind the cushion YOUR sitting on.
