While this is a very good list of pitchers I want you to consider this. Jake peavy is having an amazing year. He is first in the NL in ERA(1.98), WHIP(walk + hits per innning pitched), wins(9), win percentage,K's(110), and he is ninth in innings pitched. I believe that right now he is the best pitcher in baseball. If I had to pick one person to start a huge game for me right now it would be Jake Peavy. As for the names you actually have on your list I would say Johan Santana is the best. Despite not having 10 wins hiaving the least wins out of the pitchers you have listed I believe he has truly been the most solid. His is in the top five in the AL ERA(2.91), Win %, WHIP. He also is 6th in the AL in innings pitched(despite his manager having him on a pitch count which means his is an economical pitcher). Add to that the fact he is second in K's(AL) with 106 and you have a real steady pitcher. The only reason he does not have the win numbers that Sabathia and beckett is that his offense has let him down so much this season. He is a really solid pitcher who will keep a team in the game and if you can score 3-4 runs a game he will more than likely lead you to a win. I still believe Jake Peavy is the best in the game right now, but the best on your list is defintely Johan Santanna with a little bit more run support he could dominate the competion. I hope this answer helps.

Santana is so far ahead of the others it's a joke. Usually he is a slow starter and then goes nuts, but his numbers now look really good. If he goes on his usual tear he will be godly.

I liked the first guy who said take out Santana, make sure he's the best answer.

There really isn't a clear cut number two. Carpenter was approaching that until his injury and I'm not sure what he will be like when he's back.
