How many people here think that daylight saving time should be abandoned. It doesn't give us more daylight, and those who think that it does need to have their heads checked. If it's summer solstice and nature dictates that the sun rises at 4:30 A.M. on standard time and sets at 7:30 P.M., so be it. I know the argument is that daylight saving time gives us more usable daylight. Why can't I use the daylight when I want? Why does the federal government need to step in and order us to falsify time for what is now eight months out of the year? BTW, the energy saving argument doesn't make sense. Daylight saving effectively creates darker mornings, especially in March and October and it allows working people to return home earlier in the solar day, thereby running air conditioners for a longer period of time. Will Congress ever get the nerve to abandon this practice?

Jeez, maybe you should be allowed to use the daylight whenever you want, but the rest of us have jobs, kids, lives, etc. What good is daylight at 4:30 in the morning? Maybe all the parents could haul their kids off to ball practice BEFORE they go to work. Let's have a cookout for breakfast or enjoy our outdoor activities at 5 a.m. before it get's too hot.
Sorry, you won't get my vote for abandoning it.

Since they came up with this around WW1 they had a good reason. 85 years later, I am not so sure they have real valid reasons. They can say for energy saving etc but anyone can validate an excuse for doing pretty much anything.

I prefer cow time and not artificial time. Either way, it wont take the fizz outta my beer.
