I loved red flower's answer to you and I was really in pressed by the way she answered your question!
I know of allot of people who have ADD or ADHD and they take medicine for this and it balances them out. I know of one person who has gone the herbal way and it really does help him as well but it is illegal.
I think you got some very good advice and if you try it, you may find your middle ground also. One thing, ignore the answer that is rude and not at all funny.
Hope to see some of your artwork some day in a gallery.

I have a friend who had ADD, and she was also a good artist. She was still pretty relaxed though; she drew all the time! I'm not sure how she concentrated, but I know what does help me (I can get really hyper and I fidget alot, so most of the time I really need to calm down). Even if you're not into this sort of thing, meditation really does help. Sit relaxed in comfortable spot, it can be in Nature (outdoors), or in your bedroom or somewhere else indoors. Just make sure it's quiet and no one will disturb you. Bring your sketch pad or notebook and pencil with you to wherever you decide to meditate. Take deep breaths in and out. When you breathe in, push your stomach out. When you breathe out, pull your stomach in. This is called "belly"-breathing, and it feels weird at first, but it's the best way to breathe in meditation. After you are deep breathing for awhile, stay relaxed and let no thoughts of stress, work, or moving enter your mind. Close your eyes and think only of drawing/painting/sculpting (or whichever type of art you plan to do). Imagine your pencil/brush on the paper, creating swirls and fine little details on the page until it turns into a wondrous picture or design. Invision yourself calm and completely still except for your arm and hand, quietly concentrating on the art. Continue your deep breaths until you feel completely at ease. When you feel ready, inspired, and your mind is completely clear, open your eyes and pick up your art supplies (the sketch pad and pencil). Begin drawing, slowly, if you get super-excited and go too fast, you might loose your relaxed feeling. You should have a clear head and be able to accomplish the Art. Remember: Meditation isn't a "piece-a-cake", it may take some time for you to feel completely calm and relaxed, but in the end it is very rewarding. Best Wishes in Meditation! I hope I helped. *Tiger-lily Rain*

How about meditation? Those monks that we see video of setting themselves on fire in protest to the Vietnam war would meditate to enter a state of relaxation.

As for ADD being a disability. I disagree. I do feel that it's an illness. But I also believe that the vast majority of ADD cases are nothing more than people with good imaginations. Everyone gets distracted, that does not mean they are ADD.

It can often help to see a nutritionist as many who have ADD have a sensitivity to certain foods or food additives.

Also check out the book "Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain". It helps you draw more intuitively using not replying on your rational brain.

Put on a meditation tape/relaxing music and do your best to clear your mind and think nothing. If a thought comes up dismiss it and move on. Meditate as much as possible. This will help over time.

there are all kinds of good meds out there for add and adhd, my son has add. he has it really bad, but between the meds, and being aware of all the behavior modification he can work on, has helped a lot. btw there is a spell check on this, because you have imageanshed lots of words here.

Peace.

26 Positive Things about ADD and
46 Famous People With ADD
by Katherine West
September 23, 2000

Since we normally only hear the negative aspects of ADD-ADHD, I decided to list the positive qualities that most ADD-ADHD people possess. Although some of these qualities may lean toward ADD or ADHD separately, overall most people with this disorder fit very closely with almost all of these personality types. As I promised in an earlier column, here is the list of positive attributes that people with this disorder possess.

Extremely intelligent
Adaptable to change (they try
new things)
Energetic
Visionaries or dreamers
Humble
Resilient
Hardworking
Athletic
Imaginative
Creative
Fun-loving
Very optimistic
Humorous
Determined
Insightful
Very visual
Trusting
Open-minded
Deeply compassionate
Artistic
Passionate
Sensitive
Verbally advanced
Mechanically inclined or very
kinesthetic
Charismatic
Enthusiastic

There are many celebrities, scholars, artists, poets, actors, comedians, scientists, musicians, writers, athletes, generals in the military, presidents, world leaders, and even royalty who are now thought to have been ADD-ADHD or are currently ADD and/or ADHD. Many doctors and lawyers are also ADD or ADHD. The following is a list of just a few of these very famous people who used their high energy and creativity to become successful adults. What would our world be like if they had been labeled, ridiculed, and discounted as troublemakers or hyperactive misfits?

Einstein
Leonardo DaVinci
Socrates
Mozart
Beethoven
Thomas Edison
Alexander Graham Bell
Orville and Wilbur Wright
Steven Spielberg
Henry David Thoreau
Woodrow Wilson
Bill Cosby
Edgar Allen Poe
Nolan Ryan
John F. Kennedy
F. Scott Fitzgerald
Whoopi Goldberg
Ernest Hemingway
Dustin Hoffman
Abraham Lincoln
Galileo
William Randolph Hearst
George Bernard Shaw
Muhammad Anwar al-Sadat
Ann Bancroft
Magic Johnson
John Lennon
Nostradamus
John D. Rockafeller
Michael Jordan
Pete Rose
Bruce Jenner
Napoleon
General George Patton
Pablo Picasso
Babe Ruth
Harry Belafonte
George Burns
Andrew Carnegie
Salvador Dali
Dwight D. Eisenhower
William Butler Yeats
Prince Charles
Louis Carroll
Eleanor Roosevelt
Louis Pasteur

The world laughed at many of these people. The Wright Brothers were told by townspeople in the Ohio town that they lived in that they were nuts if they thought they could make their contraption fly. Einstein was told that he was stupid, and he would never learn. What do all of these people have in common? Not only did they have ADD-ADHD, but they also changed the world. Many of the people that I listed are still changing the world with their creativity, spirit, and vision. If you are ADD and/or ADHD or your child is, show them this list. Ask them what would our world be like if we never dared to dream? What would it be like if we never wanted to be different? Embrace your differences and strive to change the world!

What makes you feel that you need man-kinds approval for who and what you are...... Also what makes you feel that any member of the human race can be of any help to change who and what you are..... I believe that you are asking the wrong one's for help...... You should be asking God, for that is where you true healing and understanding will come from.. And not from man-kind..........................................................
