Sure, I like listening to rock music. You can be any age, race, or faith and still enjoy it. 'Tis a shame that not all do.
With 50 years of rock music history - you should be able to find more than just the tip of the 2000s iceberg that some have listed here to listen to.
Try 'The Sonics' from Seattle, this band rocked harder than most, thanks in part to a lot of inspiration from Little Richard, in the very early 1960s.
The Kinks had a long musical history, and Ray Davies wrote one great song after another in the late 60s and 70s - and wrote the words/music for two excellent theme CDs -'Arthur' and 'Schoolboys in Disgrace".
Finally, since you ae "open to suggestions" and you asked for bands that I listen to, give Soul Asylum's late 80s CDs 'Hang Time' and/or 'And The Horse They Rode In On' a listen. Enjoy.

As a minister I believe we should go by the Bible. It really does not address rock music, therefore it cannot be all forbidden on that basis. I also think it is highly commendable that you are wanting to live as a Christian, and are concerned about the matter. As someone who has counselled people, as another answerer mentioned since the question has come up in your mind that is an indication, however, that rock music MAY not be for you. Rock music basically came from Africa, and is a pagan practice that is not so good in some areas. Some of it does arouse the sexual senses and a lot of heavy metal has suicide lyrics and profanity--not just damn and hell, and so some rock music is improper. Some softer rock music is proper and so I do not see any problem with indie pop rock. But I do not think you are being overly cautious to be careful about the music you listen to. There is so much great music out there that is not being heard. Personally, I prefer the old hymns to contemporary worship. Is not contemporary worship a little guilty of trying to change God to our style, when the most powerful element of Christianity is the saving blood of Jesus. God Bless and guide you in your seeming strong and sincere Christian walk, Shalom, Rev. Glen
