My mother is very ill and does not have much time left. I am doing a picture video and need a song. I know...use a song from the heart or one she liked. But I can't, don't have one cause I listen to very hard metal and she liked country, when she listened to music. (sorry if that made no sense). I don't want to use one that is too sad and the old school country is best. She was a fun and outgoing woman that used to enjoy bars and family get togethers. I feel crazy for asking something like this about something so personal. But I am just looking for some ideas because I am driving myself mad over this, and want the video to be perfect, since it will be played at her funeral and extra copies will be given to her brother and sisters. So if you could give me some old school country songs that might work, I can get ideas from that or find one that fits her? Thanks

Hope it's help. Sorry about your mother

Songs about a woman's point of view, old school...

Do some searches on the songs these fine ladies sang, and you're bound to find something that fits. I'm hitting the 60's and 70's for the most part, and some 80's. Hope that helps.

Loretta Lynn
Tammy Wynette
Dolly Parton
Crystal Gayle
Reba McEntyre (that's not spelled right, sorry)
For really old school, think Patsy Cline or The Carter Sisters (one of which was June Carter Cash).

I've always been partial to Loretta myself, but Dolly has some pretty feisty songs.

To just listen and find something, I'd recommend Pandora. You sign in with some very basic info, and then set up your own "station." You can choose a genre, song, or artist, and they'll select songs that would fit that category, and you can stream them. If you find one you really like, bookmark it. Once you've found some, you can then shop at iTunes for the songs you bookmarked. You'll find the bookmarked songs listed on the your Profile page.

Don't worry about the video. Just spend time making a few more memories with your mom. She won't care if it's perfect, and neither will all the people who love her. Go sit and talk with her, and make her laugh over something dumb you did when you were little.

Okay....this really hit home!

My mom passed away at the tender age of 54 recently and I was faced with the same dilemma!

I made numerous cd's with all of her favorite songs (Beatles, Elvis, Conway, etc). I made sure that I had enough songs so that none were repeated.

However, my mother and I discussed her passing and how I would go about and do her final procession. The first song she chose was:
If I Can Dream - Elvis....played for some of the friends as they passed her casket.
Second was:
I Believe - Diamond Rio....played when her grandkids walked by (she always sang it to them)
Third was:
Will the Circle Be Unbroken - Nitty Gritty Dirt Band

Since I had made these months in advance, I had completely forgot what was on them and they still give me the chills to here them today. I can tell you that when I listen to Will The Circle Be Unbroken, I break down and cry everytime because the song talks about their mother dying.

Sorry to go and on....my point is, focus on her and make the rest of her time on Earth the most comfortable for her. Have fun with her and ask her what some of her favorites are. Make sure that she knows that you will be okay after her passing.

My sympathy & prayers to you and God Bless You!

Sorry to hear about your mother: Try going to different artists, like Marty Robbins, Hank Snow, Bobby Gentry, Guy Williams, Donna Fargo, Eddi Cochran, Buddy Knox, Everly Brothers. The list goes on and on. If you would like to contact me please feel free. Perhaps I can help with names of songs as I'm not sure what era moms generation is from. I was born in the 40's
Best wishes
Mickey

A song that I found inspiring came just after my grandfather's death in 1998. Collin Raye has a song called "Holes in the Floor of Heaven."

I pray that you're mother isn't suffering. I'll keep you in my prayers. Best wishes. Hope this helped.
