It was the stars. I saw them for the first time when I was six when I got my first eyeglasses. When you are older like that and see them for the first time, it ignites every cell of your being with great passion, enough to last a lifetime. "Nature" would be my answer for you. Once, in Alaska when I was young, along the coast by myself with my father far away fishing, I was exploring a huge glacier when a chuck the size of Rhode Island fell off. That was most eye-opening in itself. But, the fracture of that ancient ice released aromas into the air from thousands and thousands of years ago. To smell them was to instantly understand the nature of those times. It made me almost swoon with the rich enormity of the experience. Another time, I climbed to the top of a barren, dry mountain and it was hard work. At the top, which seemed like the top of the world in the high altitude wind, I crashed on my back at the lip and rested for awhile. The scene before me was amazing. Then, I climbed over the lip a bit for a peek inside the huge caldera of the mountaintop and inside, from one side to the other side, completely covering the scoop of the caldera, it was lush with a white lily flower. They were alone up there. And, flourishing in utter peace. Yeah, Nature would be my answer for you. : )

I believe the ones responsible for planting passion in me are the people around me. My parents and the society as a whole.
